Listen to your food and play with your silverware
Music
Follow the link to play There’s an Orchestra in my Kitchen (Wendy Fine, 1987)
While listening, march around the kitchen trying to keep in step with the beat. Find instruments in your own kitchen and play them with the song. Experiment with different instruments and different sounds. (In the song, she mentioned filling a glass with water. Different amounts of water produce different pitches.)
Mindfulness
Find a raisin and get ready to eat it, but before you put it in your mouth: smell it, squeeze it, listen to it, look at it very carefully, think about where it came from and what it looked like before it was a raisin. Then, when you put it in your mouth don’t chew it up right away. Instead, move it around your mouth with your tongue. Does it taste like a raisin should taste even if you don’t chew it? Next, start to chew the raisin but do it very slowly, noticing how your teeth feel chomping down on it with every bite. Finally, swallow the raisin and notice if you can feel it traveling down to your tummy.
